Position: Engineering Manager

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department within a dynamic industrial environment. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure optimal plant performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting overall operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Engineering Department and serve as the site technical expert supporting senior management.
- Develop, maintain, and implement detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor engineering operational and project budgets and timelines.
- Maintain an effective breakdown response system ensuring minimal downtime.
- Ensure plant availability exceeds 95% uptime.
- Coordinate and oversee execution of all onsite CAPEX projects.
- Drive research and development initiatives aimed at improving processes and identifying new opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and external contractors.
- Monitor and evaluate engineering work quality and operational methods.
- Determine departmental staffing requirements and oversee training and development initiatives.
- Implement and maintain planned maintenance systems and reliability programs.
- Manage spare parts planning, critical stock levels, and procurement participation.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual engineering performance reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering records and documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience, preferably within mineral processing or heavy industrial environments.
- Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership or management role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with sound mathematical aptitude.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a mature professional approach.
- Well-networked with strong knowledge of engineering suppliers and service providers.
- Postgraduate qualifications will be considered an added advantage.
