Position: Engineering Manager

Reporting To: General Manager

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department within a dynamic industrial environment. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure optimal plant performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting overall operational objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Engineering Department and serve as the site technical expert supporting senior management.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor engineering operational and project budgets and timelines.
  • Maintain an effective breakdown response system ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Ensure plant availability exceeds 95% uptime.
  • Coordinate and oversee execution of all onsite CAPEX projects.
  • Drive research and development initiatives aimed at improving processes and identifying new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and external contractors.
  • Monitor and evaluate engineering work quality and operational methods.
  • Determine departmental staffing requirements and oversee training and development initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain planned maintenance systems and reliability programs.
  • Manage spare parts planning, critical stock levels, and procurement participation.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual engineering performance reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering records and documentation.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience, preferably within mineral processing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership or management role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with sound mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a mature professional approach.
  • Well-networked with strong knowledge of engineering suppliers and service providers.
  • Postgraduate qualifications will be considered an added advantage.
