Role Purpose
The Financial Analyst (Africa Region) provides financial insight and decision-making support across multiple African operations within the service industry. The role ensures consistent monitoring of financial performance, assessment of regional risks, and identification of growth and efficiency opportunities across diverse African markets.
The role acts as a key link between group leadership and operational teams, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models across multiple African entities
- Monitor country-level performance, analyse variances, and deliver consolidated reporting to senior leadership
- Translate local financial data into group-level strategic insights
- Conduct stress testing to support risk-aware planning
- Support financial due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, or joint ventures
Regional Reporting & Insights
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated reports for Africa operations
- Analyse profitability, cost drivers, and KPI performance by country
- Benchmark performance across markets to identify best practices and gaps
- Contribute to Board reporting packs and financial presentations
Cross-Border Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and local statutory requirements across jurisdictions
- Liaise with local finance teams, auditors, and tax advisors
- Monitor regional risks (FX, inflation, taxation) and propose mitigation actions
- Support implementation of internal controls and risk management frameworks
Business Partnering
- Work closely with country managers and operational leaders to provide financial guidance
- Support investment decisions with financial feasibility analysis
- Act as a key liaison between group and in-country finance teams
Operational Efficiency
- Analyse regional cost structures and recommend efficiency improvements
- Support pricing, costing, and contract profitability analysis
- Identify opportunities to optimise cash flow, working capital, and resource allocation
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to support data-driven decision-making
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication abilities
- Ability to consolidate and interpret multi-country financial data
- Understanding of African market dynamics (FX, tax, regulatory environments)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero) advantageous
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CFA, or CPA) preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in financial analysis, ideally with regional/multi-country exposure in Africa
- Experience in a service industry (consulting, outsourcing, logistics, professional services, etc.) advantageous
- Fluent in English; French or Portuguese is highly desirable
- Experience working with cross-functional and remote teams
