Management Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Management Accountant to join our team. The successful applicant should be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively under pressure while consistently meeting tight deadlines.

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and a meticulous approach to your work, with a strong focus on driving cost-efficient operations across the organization. You should also have excellent presentation and report-writing skills, together with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Management Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents and records of the organization.
  • Analysis of monthly gross margins and recommend price adjustments periodically.
  • Comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for financial statements.
  • Analysis of any changes in goods or services provided to determine what effect it has on the cost.
  • Analysis of manufacturing costs and preparation of variance analysis of standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products.
  • Review of optimization initiatives and highlighting key areas to address to ensure cost efficiencies in the operations.
  • Monthly management accounts and production variance reports
  • Annual budget preparation and monthly variance analysis
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Posting or supplier raw material invoices and month-end journals
  • Assist in external audits
  • Conduct and supervise physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
  • Support management with accurate financial analysis of business performance to aid in decision making.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full ACCA or CIMA or ZICA
  • Member of ZICA (essential).
  • 5-7 years of management accounting experience (preferably in manufacturing sector/FMCG).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Solid cost systems background.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good report-writing, verbal communication, and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems (Sage Evolution is an advantage).
