Crop Seed Operations & Sales Manager

Our client within the Agriculture & Seed Science industry is seeking a dynamic and strategic Crop Seed Operations & Sales Manager to oversee their end-to-end seed production, processing, and commercial sales activities. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth, manage robust operational supply chains, and position our brand as a market leader through innovative marketing and strategic stakeholder engagement. This is a full-time role, based in Harare.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Commercial Strategy & Sales Growth
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term marketing and sales strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and pricing models to capitalize on local and export market opportunities.
  • Establish sales targets, monitor tracking systems, and build robust customer acquisition and retention plans.
  • Oversee brand visibility, merchandising, and the implementation of traditional and digital promotional campaigns.
  1. Operations & Production Management
  • Oversee seed production strategies and supervise production officers to ensure optimal seed quality, purity, and volume.
  • Manage operations including the procurement of inputs for growers, seed processing, quality control (ISO 9001:2015 standard compliance), and distribution.
  • Direct seed laboratory standards and ensure full compliance with government and seed regulatory bodies.
  • Optimize the import/export process, negotiating profitable pricing while maintaining premium product quality.
  1. Financial Acumen & Stakeholder Relations
  • Formulate and manage divisional budgets, conducting regular variance analyses to control costs.
  • Cultivate relationships with key accounts, corporate clients, government bodies, and contracted farmers.
  • Organize field days, agricultural trainings, and technical product backstopping for external stakeholders.
  1. Team Leadership & Performance
  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team of sales, marketing, and operations professionals.
  • Cascade organizational scorecards and conduct rigorous performance appraisals.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Agriculture, Business, or an equivalent qualification. Corporate membership in a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in agricultural sales and operations, with at least 3 years served in a senior management role.
  • Quality Standards: Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems is preferred.
  • Key Skills: Strong financial and business acumen, project management, resource planning, and exceptional negotiation/influencing skills.
