We are seeking an experienced Underground Mine Engineer to join a well-established gold mining operation in a physically demanding underground environment in Zimbabwe. The role requires a hands-on professional with strong technical capability, operational discipline, and the ability to ensure safe and efficient underground production.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, designing, and supervising underground mining activities to ensure optimal ore extraction and safety compliance
- Managing drilling and blasting operations in line with production schedules and regulatory requirements
- Overseeing installation, maintenance, and performance of underground mechanical and mining equipment
- Ensuring adherence to mine safety standards, risk assessments, and statutory regulations
- Supporting production targets through effective coordination of mining crews and technical teams
- Conducting underground inspections and providing technical guidance to improve operational efficiency
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in underground mining operations
- Experience in underground gold mining operations is highly advantageous
- Must be physically fit and able to operate effectively in demanding underground conditions
- Strong knowledge of mechanical mining equipment and underground maintenance systems
- Valid Mine Blasting Licence / Full Blasting Licence is mandatory
- Millwright qualification OR Degree in Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Proven experience in drilling, blasting, and underground production supervision
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and safety management capability
