A leading national automotive retail and fitment network is seeking a highly experienced Divisional Manager – Automotive Batteries to take full commercial and operational ownership of its battery category across a large-scale retail footprint. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving category growth, optimising supplier and inventory performance, and ensuring excellence across sales, fitment, and aftersales operations
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Defining and executing the divisional strategy to grow market share, revenue, and profitability for the automotive batteries category.
- Managing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring optimal procurement terms.
- Driving end-to-end inventory planning across a national branch network to balance stock availability and cost efficiency.
- Overseeing sales performance analytics and implementing targeted growth initiatives across underperforming regions.
- Leading fitment centre operations to ensure standardised testing, installation, and customer service delivery.
- Managing warranty claims, returns, and supplier quality performance to minimise losses and improve product reliability.
- Developing and executing promotional strategies to drive product penetration and volume growth.
- Ensuring accurate forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting across the division.
- Collaborating with branch and workshop teams to enforce operational standards and execution discipline.
- Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, and customer experience within the category.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in category management, procurement, retail operations, or commercial leadership.
- Strong background in automotive aftermarket, FMCG, spares, or related multi-site retail environments.
- Experience with automotive batteries or technical product categories will be a strong advantage.
- Proven experience managing supplier negotiations and complex procurement structures.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and retail analytics.
- Ability to lead performance across decentralised branch or retail networks.
- Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to deliver revenue and margin growth.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
