Our international client in the agribusiness industry is recruiting a Technical Sales Officer for their Kenya operation. The Technical Sales Officer role combines technical agronomy expertise with sales and customer relationship management within the Greenhouse and Irrigation department. The position is responsible for marketing and selling irrigation and greenhouse solutions, managing customer accounts, conducting site surveys, and providing technical advice and after-sales support across an assigned region. The role also involves offering agronomy guidance on crop suitability, irrigation scheduling, fertigation, and pest management, as well as supporting product trials, training, and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Brand Management

  • Develop and execute the company’s annual marketing strategy and calendar in line with corporate goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong corporate brand across all product lines and market segments.
  • Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and measurable ROI.
  • Conduct ongoing market analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and opportunities for growth.

Product Marketing & Campaign Management

  • Launch new products and services with integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate promotional activities, including trade fairs, exhibitions, and farmer field days.
  • Develop marketing materials — brochures, digital content, demo videos — to support sales teams.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers to ensure alignment between marketing activities and sales targets.

Digital Marketing & Communications

  • Manage the company’s online presence, including website updates, SEO, and digital advertising.
  • Oversee content creation for social media platforms and digital campaigns.
  • Drive online engagement initiatives that support brand awareness and lead generation.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies to manage media relations and public communications.

Market Research & Customer Insights

  • Conduct customer surveys and collect feedback to refine marketing strategies.
  • Analyze sales performance data to measure campaign effectiveness and market penetration.
  • Maintain a database of current and prospective customers.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead a marketing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams (sales, technical, operations, and finance).
  • Manage external vendors — advertising agencies, designers, printers, and digital consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communication, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 6–8 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably in agribusiness, FMCG, or technology.
  • Proven experience in managing campaigns, brand strategy, and digital marketing.
  • Familiarity with agribusiness markets and customer segments in Kenya and East Africa is a strong advantage.
