Our client in the agriculture industry in Kenya is recruiting a Technical Sales Officer. The Technical Sales Officer role combines technical agronomy expertise with sales and customer relationship management within the Greenhouse and Irrigation department. Some of the responsibilities include marketing and selling irrigation and greenhouse solutions, managing customer accounts, conducting site surveys, and providing technical advice and after-sales support across an assigned region. The role also involves offering agronomy guidance on crop suitability, irrigation scheduling, fertigation, and pest management, as well as supporting product trials, training, and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate has tertiary qualifications in agronomy or a related field, at least five years of experience in sales or agronomy, and strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities
- Marketing and selling of Irrigation and Greenhouse products and systems.
- Building and maintaining business relationship
- Provide technical solutions and after sales service to customers
- Carry out site surveys and assist design team on crop data facts
- Supply recommendations regarding crop suitability to different climatic zones, soil sampling/mapping/preparation, irrigation systems and maintenance, irrigation scheduling vs soil moisture management, etc.
- Offer general agronomy advise on aspects such as fertigation and integrated pest management
- Conduct demo plots/trials with new products and technologies and reporting on their market viability
- Liaise with suppliers on product performance and market needs regarding product development
- Write reports and submit required info: Weekly program, Sales Forecasts, Quarterly Reports, Demo & Field Trials and Training & Marketing Program
- Assist with debt collection from customers
Qualifications
- Tertiary education in agronomy principles, and/ or accredited courses done in this related field
- Customer service and relations, and sales strategy training courses successfully completed
- At least 5-year experience in a sales and marketing environment and / or agronomy
- Proficiency in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong client-facing and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
