ROCK MECHANICS ENGINEER

Location: Zimbabwe (Mining Operations)

Our client in the mining sector is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and qualified Rock Mechanics Engineer to join their technical team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rock mechanics assessments to ensure safe and efficient mine design and operations.
  • Provide geotechnical support for underground and/or open pit mining activities.
  • Monitor ground conditions and implement appropriate ground support systems.
  • Analyse geotechnical data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks associated with mining operations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with mining, geology, and engineering teams to optimise production while maintaining safety standards.
  • Investigate and report on ground failures and implement corrective actions.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in Rock Mechanics within the mining sector.
  • Strong knowledge of ground control systems and geotechnical monitoring techniques.
  • Experience in underground and/or open pit mining environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and safety awareness.
