ROCK MECHANICS ENGINEER

Our client in the mining sector is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and qualified Rock Mechanics Engineer to join their technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct rock mechanics assessments to ensure safe and efficient mine design and operations.
- Provide geotechnical support for underground and/or open pit mining activities.
- Monitor ground conditions and implement appropriate ground support systems.
- Analyse geotechnical data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Identify and manage geotechnical risks associated with mining operations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and industry best practices.
- Work closely with mining, geology, and engineering teams to optimise production while maintaining safety standards.
- Investigate and report on ground failures and implement corrective actions.
Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in Rock Mechanics within the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of ground control systems and geotechnical monitoring techniques.
- Experience in underground and/or open pit mining environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and safety awareness.
