MECHANICAL ENGINEER – MINING INDUSTRY
Our client, a leading player in the mining sector, is seeking to engage a qualified and results-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all mechanical systems and equipment across the mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and oversee mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used in mining operations.
Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure minimal downtime and maximum equipment efficiency.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor and analyse mechanical performance data to identify trends and potential risks.
Collaborate with production, electrical, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and operational excellence.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements within the mining industry.
Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and equipment performance documentation.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
Proven ability to manage maintenance schedules and handle equipment breakdowns efficiently.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of health and safety management systems within the mining environment is essential.
Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) will be an added advantage.
