Our client in Uganda is looking for a Green Leaf Threshing Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the tobacco industry.

  • Oversee the green leaf threshing process, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during operation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement safety protocols to minimize workplace hazards.
  • Maintain strict quality control measures to ensure that threshed tobacco leaves meet international standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of processed tobacco to identify and address any deviations or defects.
  • Manage and lead a team of threshing operators and technicians.
  • Assign tasks, schedule shifts, and provide training to new employees as necessary.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and address any personnel issues.
  • Coordinate regular maintenance and cleaning of threshing equipment.
  • Arrange for repairs and servicing of machinery when needed to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Keep track of inventory levels of green tobacco leaves and processed tobacco.
  • Ensure that there is an adequate supply of green leaves for continuous operation.
  • Maintain records of production data, including quantities processed, yields, various quality metrics, and any incidents or deviations.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to the threshing process.
  • Work to optimize the green leaf threshing process to minimize waste and reduce operational costs.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in the tobacco industry of which 5 years of experience in a similar role in tobacco industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions.
