Role Overview
The HR Manager will oversee day-to-day human resource operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and employee satisfaction across the organisation. This role requires a strong understanding of labor law, mining workforce dynamics, and HR best practices in Zambia.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Administer payroll, benefits, and leave management systems
- Handle employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and grievance resolution
- Ensure compliance with Zambian labor laws and mining sector regulations
- Support performance management and training initiatives
- Lead union negotiations and collective bargaining processes
- Advise management on labor relations strategy and risk mitigation
- Prepare HR reports and analytics for management decision-making
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious workplace culture
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in mining, construction, or industrial sectors
- Proven experience in union negotiations and labor relations
- Strong knowledge of Zambian labor laws and HR compliance
- Experience with payroll systems and HR software
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage HR operations across multiple sites
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset
