Job Description – Tank Installation Project Lead (3-Month Contract)

Position: Tank Installation Project Lead – CIL Tank Construction

Contract Duration: 3 months (October – December 2025)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tank Installation Project Lead to take full responsibility for the successful installation of six 450 m³ Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) tanks at our mine site. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring both engineering knowledge and project leadership skills. The candidate will oversee the entire installation process — from planning, fabrication, and logistics, through to erection, QA/QC, and commissioning — ensuring the tanks are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the project delivery of all six CIL tanks, including planning, execution, and handover.
  • Develop and manage installation schedules, resource plans, and work packages.
  • Lead and coordinate fabrication teams, riggers, welders, and subcontractors during on-site works.
  • Control quality, safety, and environmental compliance across the project.
  • Manage daily progress reporting and interface with the Project Manager and Mine Client Team.
  • Conduct site inspections: dimensional checks, weld QA/QC, alignment, coatings, and hydrotest prep.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical or logistical issues to keep the project on track.
  • Ensure tanks are delivered to international standards (ASME/API/AWS codes where applicable).
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring for local crews.
  • Sign off and hand over as-built documentation and completion reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or Construction Management or Equivalent pertaining to the project
  • Minimum 3–7 years’ experience in heavy steel tank projects (CIL/CIP, leach, process, or storage tanks).
  • Demonstrated ability to run tank installation projects end-to-end.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of:

o            Tank fabrication and erection sequences

o            Welding procedures, QA/QC, and NDT

o            Rigging and lifting methods

o            Protective coatings and linings for slurry environments

  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Recognized certifications (API 653, AWS CWI, CSWIP, PMP) are advantageous.
