Butchery Manager- Harare

Our client, a leading retail operation, is seeking a Butchery Manager to oversee and manage all butchery operations. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and a solid background in meat preparation, sales, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily butchery operations, from carcass receiving to final product preparation.
  • Ensure correct portioning, cutting, trimming, and packaging of meat.
  • Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and health standards.
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, and wastage control.
  • Supervise, schedule, and train staff, maintaining discipline and high service standards.
  • Set pricing, monitor sales performance, and ensure profitability.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers, including handling bulk/catering orders.
  • Prepare reports on sales, production, spoilage, and operational costs.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and safe to use.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Butchery Manager or senior butchery role (5–10 years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of meat preparation, processing, and cuts.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Meat Matrix software (essential).
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and financially astute.
  • Own vehicle is compulsory.
