Sous Chef
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join a prestigious lodge along the Zambezi. This role requires a highly skilled culinary professional with strong leadership abilities, excellent knowledge of international and local cuisine, and the ability to deliver exceptional dining experiences in a luxury hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will support the Executive Chef in ensuring consistency, creativity, and high standards across all kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu planning, food preparation, and presentation to maintain high culinary standards.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, creativity, and excellence.
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with HACCP standards and health & safety regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, manage food cost controls, and minimize wastage.
- Contribute innovative ideas for seasonal menus, special events, and guest experiences.
- Maintain clear communication with the Executive Chef and service teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Requirements
- Professional culinary qualification with proven experience as a Sous Chef in a luxury lodge, resort, or fine dining establishment.
- Strong knowledge of international and local cuisines with excellent plating and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage kitchen operations, control costs, and maintain high standards under pressure.
- Passion for hospitality with a guest-centric approach.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of HACCP standards and food safety compliance.
