Our client in Johannesburg is looking for a Logistics & Supply Chain Lead to join their team for a job vacancy within the agriculture industry.

  • Design, coordinate, and support logistics products that serve the early-stage tobacco supply chain – from farm gate to processing centre – across multiple African countries.
  • Analyse existing green movement operations across Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, and others.
  • Develop country- and customer-specific logistics products for the movement of green tobacco from buying stations to processing cities (e.g., Lusaka, Harare, Tete, Lilongwe).
  • Leverage internal intellectual property and operational experience, particularly from Malawi and Zimbabwe.
  • Coordinate with local origin teams, transport, warehousing, security, and tech divisions to co-design and implement fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Oversee early deployment and handover of operational responsibility to in-country teams.
  • Integrate systems such as TMS and develop tech-based solutions with risk and security teams (e.g., tagging, tracking, inventory control).
  • Conceptualize and test efficient transport models, including backhauls and round-trip optimization.
  • Serve as a central consultant, product developer, and process designer to align cross-border efforts for the benefit of the broader group.
  • Retain and grow new and existing customer base in assigned markets.
  • Ensuring that the quality of service that is being rendered is always of the highest standard and to appreciate that work of a substandard quality is unacceptable.
  • Conduct market research and formulate plans to expedite sales.
  • Assist in resolving day-to-day customer queries.
  • Assist with collection of outstanding payments from customers if/when required
  • Prepare and present proposals.
  • Responding courteously and immediately to customer queries and requests.
  • Creating innovative and value-adding solutions for customers.
