Our client is a reputable and fast-growing company in the pharmaceutical and FMCG distribution sector. Operating across East Africa. As they expand operations in Kenya, they are seeking a strategic and hands-on Finance Manager with 5-9 years of experience to drive financial performance and compliance.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager – Kenya will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving profitability. The role requires a strong business acumen, in-depth knowledge of local tax and financial laws, and the ability to partner with senior leadership to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the country’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Advise the Country Manager and leadership on financial implications of business activities.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance against KPIs.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.

Financial Operations

  • Supervise day-to-day accounting, treasury, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.

Stakeholder Reporting

  • Prepare and present timely financial reports to HQ and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies as needed.

 

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA-U, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory.

Experience

  • 5–9 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or FMCG sector is required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS, Kenyan tax law, and statutory regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and Excel.
