We are seeking a seasoned and qualified Senior Product Support Representative within the mining industry, to stationed in Kitwe Zambia.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Assemble new or used equipment at customer sites and ensure full functionality in line with factory specifications.
- Conduct field trials to evaluate product performance, provide technical feedback to LME, and support the Current Product Support team with findings and recommendations.
- Write detailed weekly factory reports highlighting technical problems, identifying trends that may impact design, service, or maintenance, and recommending product modifications to eliminate recurring issues.
- Review performance data and documentation from customers and field teams; inspect malfunctioning or damaged equipment to determine the root cause and scope of issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Product Supports and project managers, engineering, and other departments to resolve product issues and expedite sustainable solutions.
- Provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment for both the company and customer personnel.
- Serve as a communication bridge between the customer and the company service/project managers to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventive and periodical maintenance programs, including planning and scheduling aligned with OEM guidelines.
- Offer technical advice, guidance, and supervision to the company and customer personnel on service tasks including inspections, minor/major repairs, and overhauls.
- Support the completion and submission of warranty claims, ensuring correct parts handling and timely return of documentation and components to the main branch.
- Contribute to the creation and review of technical documentation such as Service Manuals, Technical Instructions (TIs), Service Instructions (SIs), and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
- Conduct training sessions focused on the safe operation and maintenance of company equipment; demonstrate procedures and ensure effective skills transfer to customer teams.
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to support technician skill development and continuous learning on site.
- Support Service, Project, and Parts Managers in ensuring optimal inventory levels at site and designated equipment locations.
- Provide night shift support when required, with eligibility for a Night Shift Allowance of 1.5% of the basic salary per night shift worked.
- Assist project operations across all work areas including the pit, workshop, and planned maintenance zones.
- Develop and implement at least three (3) product improvement projects annually aimed at enhancing reliability, performance, or serviceability of equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or related field.
- Experience with PLC. Programmable Logic Controller software.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in technical support, product management, or equipment sales in the yellow machinery or mining industry.
- Strong hands-on experience with mining machinery such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and dump trucks
- Familiarity with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards and aftersales processes.
- In-depth knowledge of yellow machinery systems, hydraulics, engines, and diagnostics.
- Strong communication and customer relationship management skills.
- Problem-solving ability with attention to detail.
- Capacity to train and guide junior technicians or clients.
