Our client in Harare is looking for a Procurement Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the hospitality industry

 

Main Objective

Responsible for all aspects of the purchasing operations of the hotel, including procurement, stock management, and managing cost efficiencies in line with budget expectations. Ensure highly effective operations and delivery of service excellence, continually develop the department policies and procedures to ensure it is aligned with the company’s vision and the industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement and Purchasing: Obtain competitive quotations, negotiate contracts, and manage purchase orders for various goods and services needed by the hotels.
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, service, and competitive pricing.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, monitor stock, and ensure efficient storage and distribution of goods.
  • Budget Management: Track procurement costs, analyse deviations from budget, and implement corrective actions to minimize expenses.
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance: Implement and enforce company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Create reports on procurement activities, analyse spending trends, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as culinary and operations, to ensure seamless supply chain management.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills: Required for interacting with suppliers and negotiating favourable terms.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities: Needed to analyse market trends, identify opportunities for cost savings, and resolve issues.
  • Organizational skills: Essential for managing a large volume of paperwork, purchase orders, and supplier relationships.
  • Financial management skills: Required for budget management, cost analysis, and negotiating contracts.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and best practices: To ensure efficient and compliant procurement operations.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management/Business Studies or relevant qualification.
  • At least 8 years senior management experience in procurement, contract negotiation, or supplier management in the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Excel, Pastel Sage Evolution and ERP inventory systems.
