We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Mining Operations Manager/Consultant to provide expert oversight and guidance across our diverse portfolio of mining concessions located in multiple countries. The successful candidate will possess deep operational knowledge of running mines, a strong understanding of exploration studies, and the ability to critically evaluate mining projects, particularly in gold. Any experience in mining silver, zinc, iron, and copper will be an added advantage. This role will be crucial in ensuring operational efficiency, maximizing production, optimizing costs, and driving value across our international mining assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Provide expert guidance and oversight of mining operations across various concessions in different countries, ensuring adherence to best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across mining operations, identify areas for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness, and recommend and support the implementation of solutions.
  • Exploration Study Evaluation: Critically review and interpret geological and exploration studies (including drilling results, resource estimations, and feasibility studies) to assess the potential and viability of mining concessions.
  • Mine Evaluation & Due Diligence: Conduct thorough technical and operational evaluations of existing and potential mining assets, particularly gold mines, to assess their economic viability, operational risks, and potential for optimization. This includes site visits, data analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide deep technical expertise in all aspects of mining operations, including mine planning, extraction methods (open pit and underground), processing techniques (with a focus on gold flotation, leaching, etc.), and infrastructure development.
  • Cross-Commodity Knowledge: Leverage experience in evaluating and understanding mining operations for silver, zinc, iron, and copper as an added advantage to provide broader insights across the portfolio.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate technical findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including senior management, investment teams, and local operational teams.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess operational risks associated with mining projects and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Best Practice Implementation: Stay abreast of industry best practices, technological advancements, and innovative solutions in mining operations and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel frequently to various mining sites across different countries is essential.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports on operational performance, mine evaluations, and technical assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline is essential. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., P.Eng.) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with a significant portion of that time spent in direct operational management roles. Mine P&L knowledge for a producing mine an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable and in-depth operational knowledge of all facets of running a mine, from mine planning and extraction to processing and logistics.
  • An ability to interpret and understand geological and exploration studies, including resource estimations (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101), feasibility studies, and technical reports.
  • Proven experience in evaluating the technical and economic viability of mining projects, particularly gold mines.
  • Significant experience and understanding of gold mining and processing techniques.
  • Experience in and understanding of mining operations for silver, zinc, iron, and copper is a significant added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, 1 with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders across different cultures.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental best practices in mining.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in other languages relevant to our operating regions would be an asset (French and Spanish)
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in mining software and data analysis tools.
