Butchery Operations Manager
Our client in Harare is looking for a Butchery Operations Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the FMCG/Retail industry.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced, proactive Butchery Operations Manager to oversee the butchery operations at our client’s retail butchery in the Belvedere area. The successful candidate will be responsible for stock and cash management, staff management, customer interactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Customer Care
- Develop and implement sales and marketing plans to grow the business.
- Conduct regular staff assessments on staff interactions with customers and provide timeous feedback for improvement.
- Visit key customers for wholesale orders and feedback on service.
- Liaise with marketing manager on marketing activities and implement managers promotions on a weekly basis.
Staff Management
- Ensure that all staff are adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that each staff member has their weekly shifts communicated in advance and adjust accordingly as the business requires.
- Responsible for the hiring, training and discipline of staff members.
- Preparing and submitting monthly leave calendars, overtime schedules and other relevant reports to the Human Capital department.
Stock Management
- Manage the ordering process to ensure that there are no product stock outs and that product is at its freshest.
- Monitor stock movement from receiving, processing, and selling to prevent pilferage and unauthorized transactions.
- Conducting weekly stock takes and continuous stock monitoring on key shrinkage lines.
- Ensure that stocks are cleared before they pass their best before date and that no compromised stock is sold to consumers.
Cash Management
- Conduct regular spot checks on cashiers during the day.
- Ensure cash ups are done correctly and that all variances are accounted for.
- Review cash handling procedures and work with risk and loss team to improve security.
- Ensure all cash deposits are made timeously to minimise risk of theft.
Compliance with SOPs and Industry Regulations
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and environmental regulations within the shop.
- Train and sensitize employees on loss control measures, security protocols, and fraud prevention.
- Foster a culture of accountability and vigilance in the business.
Team Leadership & Training
- Maintain a monthly training calendar.
- Train and sensitise employees on customer care, stock management, security protocols, and fraud prevention.
- Continuous monitoring of employee behavior to adjust and improve the training calendar.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Preferably a degree or higher education in Business Management, Retail, Marketing, or Logistics or any related field
- At least 5 years of experience in retail or butchery management
- Candidates with a knowledge of Halaal systems and operations will be considered first
- Strong knowledge of Meat cuts, Excel, Customer Service, and Stock Management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
