Our client in Ethiopia in the agriculture industry is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Director. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in marketing coffee, tea, strawberries, vegetables, and other exportable spices and oil crops in international markets. In addition, the candidate should have a strong background in procuring agrochemicals and other machinery and inputs for Agriculture-based companies. International experience is crucial for this role, emphasizing the ability to navigate diverse markets and understand global trends.  The position is open to Ethiopian nationals as well as international candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to attract new customers, increase brand awareness, and increase loyalty for existing customers.
  • Oversee procurement processes.
  • Negotiate contracts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and distributors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Drive growth and profitability in the Agro-export industry.
  • Identify new business opportunities for the companies under the cluster.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for growth in existing markets or development of new markets.
  • Develop operational manuals and procedures for operational activities of companies such as pricing, inventory management, and product development.
  • Oversee and coordinates the marketing staffs and the implementation of marketing campaigns of the companies.
  • Develop new products and services based on customer preferences and market trends.
  • Determine which methods of advertising are most effective for the companies based on cost, reach, and return on investment.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential consumers by studying demographic data such as age, gender and income level, etc.
  • Develop procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
  • Review existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure correct documentation, specifications and contract are in place.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the agriculture industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agro-Business, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in the marketing of coffee, tea, strawberries, vegetables, and other exportable spices and oil crops in international markets
  • Strong background in procuring Agrochemicals and other machinery and inputs for Agriculture-based companies.
  • International experience in marketing and procurement is essential.
  • Proficiency in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Proven track record in driving growth and profitability in the Agro-export industry.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards in the Agro-export industry.
