Our client in Beitbridge is looking for an organised and dynamic Duty-Free Shop Assistant to join their team for a job vacancy within the Retail

Industry.

 

As a Duty-Free Shop Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and supporting the overall operations of the

duty-free shop. You will assist customers with their purchases, maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, and contribute to

creating a welcoming shopping environment for travellers.

 

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Greet customers as they enter the duty-free shop and offer assistance.
  • Provide product information, answer questions, and assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions.
  • Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist in restocking shelves and displays with merchandise to ensure availability and attractive presentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and alert management when stock is running low.
  • Help maintain visual merchandising standards by arranging products and displays according to guidelines.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the duty-free shop throughout the day.
  • Clean and organize product displays, shelves, and checkout areas.
  • Assist in periodic deep cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to security procedures to prevent theft and ensure the safety of merchandise and customers.
  • Assist in verifying customers’ eligibility for duty-free purchases according to regulations and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve sales targets and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods or with tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

 

Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in retail or customer service is a plus.
  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Basic math skills and familiarity with cash handling procedures.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of multiple languages may be advantageous in serving international travellers.
