Our client in Tanzania in the microfinance industry seeks an Accountant Manager to join their dynamic team, pivotal in upholding the department’s efficiency and professionalism. The ideal candidate boasts a minimum of 4 years’ experience in account and finance, coupled with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent accreditation such as ZICA or ACCA. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and preparation of final accounts, managing funds, and nurturing the growth of the Finance Department. Responsibilities

  • Preserve receipts & payments statements of branches.
  • Manage central office expenditures.
  • Prepare monthly organization accounts statement.
  • Consolidate and prepare final accounts for external audit.
  • Manage and preserve fund accounts from banks/other sources.
  • Develop cash flow chart and execute fund transfers as per plan/need.
  • Monitor branches’ bank accounts.
  • Prepare staff salary payroll.
  • Supervise central accounts section activities.
  • Audit branch accounts for accuracy.
  • Supervise staff maintaining branch receipts & payments accounts.
  • Verify accuracy of central office accounts.
  • Produce monthly organization accounts statement for MD and Group Accounts.
  • Transfer funds to branches based on approved requisitions.
  • Manage changes in bank account operational signatories.
  • Finalize outgoing staff final payment accounts.
  • Prepare reports on Bank/Foundations loans.
  • Repay bank loan installments with MD approval.
  • Initiate opening/closing bank accounts for the field.
  • Supervise daily activities of Accounts Officer and Cash Officer.
  • Preserve Provident Fund Accounts of employees.
  • Prepare yearly Final Accounts and arrange external audit.
  • Resolve external audit queries.
  • Summarize mistakes and irregularities in receipts & payments accounts for AM and BM.
  • Prepare monthly staff salary sheet, submit for MD approval.
  • Correspond with service banks and resolve branch-related bank issues.
  • Verify servicing bank statements monthly.
  • Ensure correct entries in the ledger for head-wise accounts
  • Any other ad hoc tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or Economics.
  • CPA Certified or ACCA equivalent.
  • At least 4 years’ working experience in busy accounting and finance roles. Experience in microfinance/banking/insurance/consultancy/audit sector preferred.
  • Demonstrate teamwork with workmates at all levels.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Open to impactful change and a creative thinker.
  • Experience with different accounting software. Hands-on experience in banking systems will be an added advantage.
  • The ability to operate with the highest integrity, resilience and the ability to work under fast paced changing environments with changing priorities.
