Overview
Our client is currently looking for a General Manager with experience in the coffee manufacturing industry. The position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The qualified candidate will provide managerial and technical expertise or support to the company’s manager as well as technical staffs. The main objective of this executive expert is to assess the overall bottlenecks of the coffee value chain and design mitigation plan to improve its productivity.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the implementation of the strategic plan for the coffee or tea production,
- Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of coffee function of the company.
- Approve the operating budget of coffee companies in consultation with DCEO,
- Oversee and direct the entire coffee function of companies.
- Ensure that companies timely inputs and different supplies allocation and utilized in accordance with company’s operational manuals, policies, procedures, plans and programs,
- Develop and review operational manual for coffee crop management,
- Identify the Bottle necks across the value chain of the coffee and by resolving it improve the quality and productivity of coffee.
- Direct, monitor and control the coffee crop selection, input type selection, application rate and approving the coffee planting stumping and uprooting schedule of companies in consultation with DCEO.
- Maintain consistent and effective communications with the DCEO, implementing his directives.
Proactively prepare plan B for the agrochemicals and Seeds underutilization in collaboration with RD. - Develop and implement better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques that improves coffee yield.
- Develop or customize the training material /manual to share experiences to the local coffee experts of the company.
- Provide training and technical support to the coffee experts of the company based on the existing gap identified and previous experiences.
- Carry out any other relevant tasks assigned by DCEO.
Expected Deliverables
- Inception report with detailed work plan based on the responsibilities.
- Measurable improved in quality and productivity of coffee.
- Developed and well -reviewed operational manual for coffee or tea management.
- Well-developed training materials.
- Training provided to the coffee or tea experts of the company.
- Monthly, quarterly and annual reports as well as exit report.
Qualifications
- Education
o Bachelor or post graduate degree (Master’s Degree) in agriculture, agro-economics, agronomy and related fields. - Experience
o More than ten years of professional experience in the coffee
o Relevant certification in coffee or and other related fields
o Flexible to travel to all coffee farms of the companies across the country
o Good planning / organization skills.
o Demonstrable experience across the value chain of coffee.
o Result oriented.
o Good oral and written communication skills in English. - Language (English)
o Proficient in writing and speaking
