The Role:
Working for a market leader in digital agronomy and precision agriculture, this role involves supporting some of the Southern Africa’s most progressive farmers and agronomists to help them maximise input use efficiency and increase crop yields. Suitable for anyone with agricultural knowledge, a willingness to learn new technologies and a desire to be challenged in a varied role. Working at the forefront of precision agriculture, the role involves technical sales of a range of digital support tools and precision farming services as well as ongoing account support and training.
We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic candidate with experience in agriculture and technology/IT, that is looking for an exciting and varied role working at the cutting edge of the precision farming sector.

Key Responsibilities:
• Technical sales of a range of precision farming services
• Ongoing account management, training and support of precision farming services for growers and agronomists
• Understanding the nutritional and agronomic requirements of farms through the growing season and working with growers and agronomists to develop application maps
• Regional responsibility for trialling and promoting new precision farming technologies and services
• Provide and undertake soil sampling and soil scanning services
• Build strong long term relationships with growers and agronomists
• Develop commercial understanding and technical knowledge (including FACTS qualification)
The Candidate:
  • Someone with good knowledge of the agricultural industry and strong technical/IT abilities looking for long term career progression within a rapidly expanding company

  • The ability to influence and persuade others to “buy” ideas or products

  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate complex precision farming concepts, technology and techniques and be able to win others over to their perspective

  • Self-disciplined and enthusiastic with a desire to excel

  • Well organised, someone who takes a structured approach and can successfully identify and organise relevant resources/tasks, and is a good time-manager

  • Great communicator – both written and orally

  • A problem solver – you will enjoy getting to grips with new technology and be able to assist with software and hardware issues

  • The ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders from farmers and growers, to agronomists and agricultural supply businesses.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form lasting customer relationships based on trust, sound agronomic advice and integrity

  • First class customer services. Someone who puts their “customer” first, taking an interest in their aims and needs, giving priority to serving and caring for them

  • Knowledge of precision farming techniques and GPS systems (desired but not essential as full training is provided)
