Our client in Zambia is looking for a French Teacher to join their team for a job vacancy within the Educational Industry.

The French Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction in the French language to students. They create engaging lessons that promote language acquisition, cultural understanding, and communication skills development. The French Teacher fosters a positive learning environment, assesses student progress, and collaborates with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational objectives.
  • Teach French language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, at various proficiency levels.
  • Integrate cultural content and authentic materials to enhance students’ understanding of French-speaking countries and cultures.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language abilities of students.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Design and administer assessments, quizzes, and projects to evaluate student progress and proficiency in French.
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their language skills and academic performance.
  • Analyze assessment data to inform instructional planning and identify areas for student growth and improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies for supporting struggling learners and advancing proficient students.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish clear expectations for student behavior and academic engagement in the French classroom.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to participate.
  • Manage classroom routines and transitions effectively to maximize instructional time.
  • Address disciplinary issues and behavioral concerns in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Parent and Community Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, assignments, and classroom activities.
  • Provide opportunities for parent involvement in student learning, such as parent-teacher conferences and cultural events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to promote French language learning and cultural enrichment opportunities within the school and community.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, language proficiency, and cultural competency.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in language education through workshops, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Engage in collaborative planning and reflection with colleagues to continuously improve instructional practices and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in French, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • State teaching certification or licensure in French or World Languages
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French, with native or near-native fluency
  • Experience teaching French language and culture to students of diverse backgrounds and proficiency levels
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of language acquisition theories, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques
  • Commitment to promoting multicultural understanding and appreciation through language education
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
