Our client in Lusaka, is looking for a\u00a0 Instructor – Advanced Heavy Duty Mechanic\u00a0 to join their team for a job vacancy within the Education Mining Sector.<\/p>\n

Role Purpose<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Instructor will provide both classroom and practical training in the maintenance, repair, and operation of heavy-duty equipment and machinery. The role involves preparing training materials, assessing learners, and supporting the development of technical skills in trainees and apprentices.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Deliver classroom and practical training on heavy-duty equipment systems and maintenance.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical exercises.<\/li>\n
  • Teach trainees how to diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.<\/li>\n
  • Demonstrate the safe use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.<\/li>\n
  • Assess trainee performance through tests, practical exercises, and assignments.<\/li>\n
  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records.<\/li>\n
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to trainees.<\/li>\n
  • Supervise workshop and practical training activities.<\/li>\n
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and training standards.<\/li>\n
  • Support the review and improvement of training programs and materials.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with industry partners and workplace mentors to support practical learning.<\/li>\n
  • Participate in evaluations, audits, and quality assurance activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Work Environment<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
      \n
    • Primarily based in training workshops, classrooms, and laboratories.<\/li>\n
    • May involve occasional visits to industrial sites or field locations.<\/li>\n
    • Requires supervising practical activities and working around heavy equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.<\/li>\n
      • Teaching or instructor qualification is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Skills and Competencies<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
          \n
        • Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty equipment and maintenance practices.<\/li>\n
        • Good teaching, communication, and presentation skills.<\/li>\n
        • Ability to coach and mentor trainees.<\/li>\n
        • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.<\/li>\n
        • Ability to assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.<\/li>\n
        • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Computer Skills<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
            \n
          • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).<\/li>\n
          • Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital training tools is an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Preferred Certifications<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
              \n
            • Instructor or trainer certification.<\/li>\n
            • Occupational health and safety certification.<\/li>\n
            • Assessor or competency evaluation certification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Experience<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
                \n
              • Several years of practical experience in heavy equipment maintenance, repair, or related technical fields.<\/li>\n
