Our client in the Agri sector is hiring a financial controller.
The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of the company in Tanzania, ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and compliance with local regulations. The role involves managing budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, tax, and audit processes, while also supporting strategic decision-making and driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily finance and accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and monitor performance against targets

Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws, statutory filings, and regulatory requirements

Coordinate internal and external audits and implement recommendations

Maintain internal controls and ensure proper financial procedures and risk management

Provide financial insights to senior management to support strategic planning and business decisions

Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders

Support cross-border financial coordination if part of a regional or group structure

Supervise and mentor the finance team, ensuring continuous improvement and capacity building
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred)

Recognized accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA)

5+ years’ experience in a senior finance or controlling role, preferably within East Africa

Strong knowledge of Tanzanian financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards

Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, QuickBooks)

Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills

Ability to work independently and lead a small to mid-sized finance team

Fluency in English required; Swahili is an advantage
